Job summary

Innovar Group is seeking a Regional Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations for a large, multi-state, project-based workforce. You will ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll for hourly field employees and salaried staff while managing payroll controls and regional payroll processes.

You will oversee end-to-end payroll across multiple states, develop regional timekeepers, and maintain data integrity for job coding, timekeeping, and payroll journal entries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive, multi-state payroll experience.
• 2+ years of experience leading or supervising a payroll team.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax requirements.
• Construction, industrial services, infrastructure, or project-based payroll experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with certified payroll, prevailing wage, Davis-Bacon, union payroll, or multi-rate payroll is preferred.
• Experience with ADP, UKG, Workday, Viewpoint, or a similar payroll platform.
• Advanced Excel skills, discretion with confidential information, and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop regional timekeepers and payroll specialists.
• Ensure accurate processing of wages, overtime, bonuses, per diem, deductions, labor allocations, and complex pay structures.
• Manage certified payroll setup, reporting, and compliance for prevailing-wage or government-funded projects.
• Partner with HR, operations, and accounting to maintain accurate employee data, job coding, timekeeping, accruals, and payroll journal entries.
• Review payroll registers, tax filings, reconciliations, and audit documentation.
• Maintain payroll controls and lead internal, external, and government payroll audits.
• Analyze overtime, labor-cost, and payroll-error trends and provide insights to leadership.
• Drive payroll process improvements, automation, and system enhancements.
