Commercial Metals Company in Baton Rouge, LA, seeks an Area Operations Manager to lead across facilities with a strong safety culture and a focus on cost control. You will oversee manufacturing and logistics, align goals with financial targets, and drive continuous improvement with cross-functional teams.

The role requires 5+ years of leadership, a relevant degree, and the ability to travel up to 70%. You’ll use ERP tools, Power BI, and standard Office software to monitor performance and support

Qualifications

• 5+ years of operational leadership experience in manufacturing, distribution, or a related environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and drive continuous improvement
• Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills
• Ability to review and discuss results and P&L statements
• Proficient in ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and operational performance tools
• Commitment to safety, quality, and employee development aligned with CMC’s core values
• Ability to travel 70%

Responsibilities

• Lead with a safety mindset, maintain housekeeping across branches, and drive productivity.
• Ensure the business meets expected financial returns and location goals.
• Drive growth by maximizing output while balancing customer service and quality.
• Lead continuous improvement and cross-training to ensure team flexibility and growth.
• Oversee internal controls and daily execution.
• Manage inventory control, shipping/receiving, logistics, and invoicing.
• Hold self and staff accountable for doing what’s right for the business.
• Use P&L, sales reports, order reports, and Power BI to measure progress.
• Recruit, develop, and mentor a strong branch staff.
