Job summary

Billings Clinic is seeking a Referral Coordinator - Neurology to oversee the referral process from internal and external providers across all service lines. Qualifications

• 4 Year / Bachelors Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
• 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a healthcare setting. 1 year of experience at Billings Clinic, preferred.
• Current Montana/Wyoming driver's license and the ability to be insured to operate Billings Clinic vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for referrals, coordinating with service lines across the region to ensure seamless care.
• Maintain accurate tracking and documentation of patient referrals.
• Ensure accurate registration processes, including verification of demographics and insurance information.
• Collect and compile relevant clinical information and share with specialists as per guidelines.
• Assess incoming referrals and prioritize cases based on urgency and clinical needs.
• Identify and resolve referral issues to promote timely treatment.
• Explain processes and timelines to patients, ensuring understanding.
• Ensure documentation and authorizations are recorded within required timeframes.
• Prioritize authorization requests based on urgency and need.
• Review referral data to identify trends and improve workflows.
• Communicate with external stakeholders about status of referrals and authorizations using Cerner.
• Assist with retroactive authorizations and coordinate with payers as needed.
• Collaborate with Payer Relations to ensure regional site agreements with providers.
• Maintain up-to-date manuals, policies, and payer requirements related to referrals and pre-certifications.
• Provide orientation to physicians and staff on referral processes.
