Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. is seeking a Growth and Improvement minded Regional Medical Scientific Director (MSL) in Inflammatory Bowel Disease Immunology.

This leadership role drives scientific exchange, research alignment, and congress support across the Southern-M Midwest region with up to 50% travel. The candidate will engage with national and regional SLs, provide medical information, support investigator-sponsored studies, and ensure compliance with GCP and internal SOPs.

Qualifications

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD required.
• Proven competence with 3 years of Immunology (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) beyond degree.
• Strong verbal and written communications.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with key external stakeholders.
• Dedication to scientific excellence with focus on scientific education and dialogue.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills.
• Thorough comprehension of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and related guidelines/regulations.
• Ability to organize and work effectively in a changing environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, OneNote.
• Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develops professional relationships with national and regional SLs for access to company-approved medical information.
• Conducts peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains a medical contact within the company.
• Addresses scientific questions and directs SL inquiries to appropriate resources.
• Maintains knowledge of the AOI and therapeutic area.
• Initiates discussions with SLs and investigators on research alignment and concepts.
• Supports investigator-sponsored research and Site Initiation Visits.
• Engages in scientific congresses and data exchange.
• Gathers feedback to inform medical priorities and needs.
