Job summary

Merck is seeking a Growth and Improvement minded Regional Medical Scientific Director (MSL) in Inflammatory Bowel Disease Immunology to drive our Strategic Operating Priorities. This field-based role requires PhD/MD-level credentials and deep scientific expertise to engage with national and regional SLs.

You will lead scientific exchanges, support investigator-initiated studies, and ensure alignment with GCP and SOPs.

Qualifications

• Three years of Immunology (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) experience beyond the terminal degree.
• Principled verbal and written communications.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders.
• Dedication to scientific excellence with a focus on education and dialogue.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills.
• Thorough knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and related regulations.
• Ability to organize and adapt in a dynamic environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiarity with virtual meeting tools.

Responsibilities

• Develops professional relationships with national and regional SLs for access to approved scientific information.
• Conducts peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains a medical contact within the company.
• Addresses scientific questions and guides inquiries to appropriate resources.
• Maintains current knowledge of AOI in the therapeutic area.
• Initiates discussions with SLs and investigators to align with research strategies.
• Enhances understanding of investigator-sponsored research and supports site initiation visits.
• Protocol lead responsibilities with GCTO and assists in study recruitment planning.
• Engages in scientific congresses and medical meetings for data exchange.
• Gathers feedback and insights from SLs and patients to inform strategy.
