Job summary

Merck & Co. in the United States seeks a Regional Medical Scientific Director (PhD/MD/PharmD/DNP) to serve as a therapeutic and disease expert.

The role engages in bidirectional scientific information exchange with Scientific Leaders and provides balanced, non-product information across scientific areas aligned to Scientific Exchange, Research, and Scientific Insights. This position leads scientific exchange, research discussions, congress support, and insights while upholding FDA, OIG, HIPAA,

Qualifications

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD degree required.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant therapeutic area experience beyond degree.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders.
• Commitment to scientific excellence and education.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA and related guidelines.
• Ability to organize and prioritize in a dynamic environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with virtual meeting tools.
• Commitment to inclusive culture and empowerment.
• Adherence to SOPs, GCP, and related policies.

Responsibilities

• Develops relationships with national and regional SLs to share approved medical information.
• Lead peer-to-peer scientific discussions and provide medical contacts within the company.
• Address external questions and route policy-related inquiries appropriately.
• Maintain knowledge of evolving scientific and clinical environments relevant to the AOI.
• Initiates discussions with SLs about scientific/data exchange to align with study concepts.
• Identify investigators and sites for phase II-IV programs and support SIVs.
• Lead protocol discussions in collaboration with Global Clinical Trial Operations.
• Support participation in Company-sponsored studies and address investigator questions.
