Job summary

BlackLine Systems Inc (U.S.) seeks a Regional Leader of Business Development to oversee an internal BDR team within the New York region. You will lead, coach, and set best practices, driving performance toward QM targets and revenue objectives.

This role requires managing hiring decisions with Talent Acquisition, partnering with HR, and guiding weekly regional meetings. Hybrid work schedule with on-site in NYC at least three days per week.

Qualifications

Make Your Mark: The Regional Leader of Business Development will oversee all activities of an internal team of BlackLine's Business Development Reps within an assigned Region. This individual is a people leader, responsible for the day‑to‑day management and adherence to established best practices for their BDR team.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the right hand of the Director of Business Development Leader, encouraging and pushing the team to perform to the best of their ability.
  • Conduct interviews and partner with the Geo Leader, Talent Acquisition, and HR Business Partner regarding hiring decisions, candidate pool feedback, and interview activity.
  • Oversee the progression of BDRs through the BDR Matrix to ensure skill growth and team development.
  • Partner with the Geo Leader and HR Business Partner regarding Performance Improvement Plan execution and termination decisions.
  • Lead regional team meetings on a weekly or more frequent basis to reinforce key organizational topics and promote best practices.
  • Guide, coach, and drive the team to achieve regionally set Qualified Meeting (QM) targets from the Sales and Marketing Contract on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Manage and maintain regional BDR metrics, including inbound lead follow‑up, outbound target tracking, call and email activity, marketing campaign follow‑up and participation, and scheduled pipeline meetings.
  • Educate and reinforce technology best practices for the team; ensure appropriate technology use and make recommendations for new tools if needed.
  • Deliver training both in a group setting and 1:1 to refresh knowledge and use of existing and new technologies.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with associated RVPs and marketing counterparts to implement decided tactics and ensure successful participation by the BDRs to support regional revenue‑generating activities.
  • Work with Enablement to onboard and train new hires: BDRs and interns.
  • Track performance of the assigned team using Tableau and Salesforce within the pre‑determined framework.
  • Identify areas of opportunity to improve performance of the team and individuals as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide limited supervision to others through motivation, direction, review and feedback of assigned tasks; supervise work through planning and scheduling of work, and approval.
  • Supervise, manage, and direct the selection, training, development, appraisal, and work assignments of personnel.
  • Accommodate a hybrid work schedule, working on‑site at least three days per week from the New York City office.
Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of experience managing a team of early‑career employees, or at least 3 years of experience in a business development, sales, or recruiting role.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong knowledge of Outreach and Salesforce from prior experience with these tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel reporting skills such as building charts and graphs.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to the audience (team, external partners, executives).
  • High level of energy, drive, enthusiasm, initiative, commitment, and professionalism.
  • Aptitude for leadership and the ability to guide and motivate employees through both direct and indirect methods.
  • Goal‑oriented at both an individual and team level.
  • Self‑starter with solid organizational and planning skills.
  • Open‑minded and willing to learn.
  • Highly motivated and outgoing with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Accounting knowledge (degree or job experience) is a plus.
Salary Range

$143,000.00‑$179,000.00. This range depends upon several factors, including prior relevant job experience, skill set, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, BlackLine offers short‑term and long‑term incentive programs, a robust benefits and wellness package, and pay transparency.
