Job summary

The Maintenance Specialist at Children's Home is responsible for the maintenance and care of all buildings and grounds across Penfield and nearby offices, ensuring a safe environment for children and staff. Tasks include carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and preventive maintenance to uphold safety standards.

Requirements include a High School Diploma/GED, 3+ years in 3+ trades, strong communication, basic computer knowledge, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience in 3+ maintenance trades (electrical, plumbing, construction, HVAC, or mechanics)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Some working knowledge of computers is required
  • Driver's License and ability to maintain insurability throughout employment are required

Responsibilities

  • Perform general carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tasks
  • Perform drywall repair, replacement, and painting
  • Check functionality of safety systems (e.g., fire alarm) and ensure safety standards are met
  • Inspect and troubleshoot electrical wiring and control panels
  • Install appliances and equipment
  • Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs
  • Snow removal plowing and shoveling as needed
  • Collaborate with workers during renovations
  • Complete reports and documentation in a timely manner
  • Maintain professional communication within the agency and with vendors

$23.50-24.50 an hour

Covering offices in: Penfield, Geneva, Lyons, Seneca, and Hammondsport.

3+ years' experience in 3 or more maintenance trades: electrical, plumbing, construction, HVAC, and mechanics required

Position Summary: The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the maintenance and care of all buildings and grounds. They perform everyday maintenance tasks and preventative maintenance duties that maintain a safe environment for the children and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Perform general carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tasks
  • Perform drywall repair and replacement, and painting
  • Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm) and ensure fire safety standards are met
  • Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
  • Install appliances and equipment
  • Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
  • Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs
  • Do garden/yard upkeep by mowing lawn, collecting trash etc., occasionally, as needed
  • Snow removal plowing and shoveling, occasionally, as needed
  • Perform cleaning activities as needed
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation)
  • Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations
  • Complete reports and documentation that are required in a timely manner.
  • Take initiative in observing and notifying the Maintenance Supervisor and Director of Facility Operations of maintenance problems or areas requiring attention, repair, replacement, servicing, etc.
  • Communication: Maintain responsive professional communication within the agency and with community contacts and vendors.
Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma / GED required

Experience:

  • 3+ years' experience in 3 or more maintenance trades: electrical, plumbing, constructions, HVAC, or mechanics required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, problem solving and organizational skills are required
  • Some working knowledge of computers required
  • Driver's License and ability to maintain insurability throughout employment required
