Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) – Parks and Recreation Division, is seeking a Regional Maintenance/Construction Supervisor to oversee district-wide park maintenance, lead major projects, and ensure safe, well-maintained facilities.

The role requires coordinating staff, budgets, and resources, while guiding project work from planning through closeout and compliance with state regulations.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience developing scopes of work for maintenance projects.
• Demonstrated experience record keeping pertaining to maintenance projects within the state park system.
• Demonstrated experience purchasing guidelines for informal contracts.
• Demonstrated experience with budget, travel reimbursement, and financial reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Manage major maintenance, construction, renovation, demolition, and trail projects, ensuring timely completion and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
• Develop project specifications, drawings, and cost estimates; oversee bidding, contractor performance, inspections, invoicing, and project closeout in accordance with state requirements.
• Evaluate and prioritize project requests, recommend funding allocations, track expenditures, and reallocate resources to address maintenance needs.
• Serve as the primary technical resource for park maintenance staff and superintendents, providing expertise in facility repairs, construction materials, maintenance standards, and procurement procedures.
• Act as the primary liaison among park staff, contractors, architects, engineers, and state, local, and federal agencies to coordinate project activities and resolve issues.
• Support natural disaster recovery efforts, coordinate documentation for federal reimbursement, assist with staff recruitment, and contribute to maintenance training and professional development.
• Assist with the procurement, maintenance, allocation, and tracking of regional vehicles, equipment, and supplies, while coordinating maintenance staff and supporting broader park operational needs.
