Job summary

The Division of Parks and Recreation within the State of North Carolina seeks a Maintenance/Construction Supervisor III to lead district-wide park maintenance programs across facilities and trails. You will provide technical guidance, supervise staff and coordinate with contractors, architects, and engineers while ensuring safety, compliance, and efficient project delivery.

Role requires hands-on leadership, project budgeting, and strong collaboration with state and federal agencies.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in construction/maintainable fields plus 3 years supervisory experience in construction/maintenance.
• Alternatively, high school or GED with 5 years of progressive facility maintenance or construction, including 2 years supervisory experience.
• Experience developing scopes of work, maintaining records, and following budgeting guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee district-wide maintenance, renovation, demolition, and trail projects with timely, code-compliant delivery.
• Develop project specs, drawings, and cost estimates; manage bidding, inspections, and closeout.
• Prioritize requests, track expenditures, and reallocate resources for emergencies.
• Serve as primary technical resource for staff and coordinates with agencies and contractors.
• Support disaster recovery, recruitment, and training; assist procurement of regional vehicles and supplies.
