Job summary

City of New Orleans is seeking a professional librarian to direct the day-to-day operations of the large regional branch library and its associated branches. The role includes staff scheduling, facility oversight, and supervision of branch staff, along with duties in circulation, interlibrary loan, and reference services.

You will develop programs and events to promote library use, oversee training and evaluation, and ensure high-quality public service across all branches.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Library Science from an accredited graduate library school.
• Four (4) years of full-time experience as a professional librarian gained after the Master's degree, with at least two years in a supervisory role at an urban public library.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day operation of the large regional branch library and associated branches.
• Oversee staff scheduling, training, and evaluation; supervise branch staff.
• Manage circulation, interlibrary loan, reference, and related library operations.
• Develop and implement programs, services, and events to promote use of the library.
