Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. You will guide high‑voltage substation protection projects, act as a technical authority for relays, SCADA, and automation, and mentor engineers to drive performance and client service.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline; PE license preferred.
15 years of related experience and ability to lead regional/offic e teams.
Domestic/international travel may be required; travel frequency varies.

Responsibilities

Lead design, delivery and technical execution of high-voltage substation protection and control projects.
Serve as technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, automation, and communications.
Develop and review protection/control deliverables including schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, panel layouts, and integration docs.
Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and related analyses.
Ensure compliance with client requirements, utility standards, and CDM Smith quality procedures.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support delivery, commissioning, testing and startup.
Drive technical excellence through reviews, standards development and continuous improvement.
