Job summary

CDM Smith seeks a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to provide technical authority and lead a growing Power and Energy team in the United States.

You will design, deliver, and lead protection and control projects, mentor staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality, reliable power infrastructure.

Ideal candidates have PE license, 15+ years of related experience, and willingness to travel regionally as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineer (PE) license.
• Minimum 15 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, delivery, and technical execution of high-voltage substation protection and control projects.
• Serve as technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, automation, and substation communications.
• Develop, review, and approve protection and control engineering deliverables, including schematics and relay settings.
• Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection and related analyses.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, utility standards, and CDM Smith procedures.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for commissioning, testing and startup activities.
• Drive technical excellence through quality reviews and standards development.
• Lead, mentor, and develop engineers and designers for career growth.
• Support business development and client relationship management.
