Job summary

The Virginia Community Colleges System (VCCS) Shared Services Center in Botetourt, VA, seeks a Lead Buyer Specialist to guide a regional team of about 10 Buyers and manage transactional purchases for 23 colleges, the System Office, and the SSC.

Under the Purchasing Supervisor, you will ensure purchases comply with state laws and policies, optimize procurement processes, and provide leadership across the region.

Qualifications

• Execute simple to moderately complex purchases of supplies, equipment, and services.
• Proficiently use automated procurement systems (e-procurement) to review requisitions through to a PO.
• Analyze quotes, bids and make purchasing decisions.
• Fully manage procurement from need to PO, including invoicing discrepancies.
• Exercise sound judgment, solve problems in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
• Complete assignments following procedures & policies within laws and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Guide a team of about 10 Buyers serving an assigned grouping of colleges.
• Perform transactional purchases up to the small purchase threshold.
• Ensure all purchases comply with state laws, policies and VCCS policies.
• Lead region workload and act as an escalation point.
