Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Region Landfill Manager to oversee regional landfill operations, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency. You will lead multiple landfill sites, manage budgets, and coordinate with site managers to optimize production and quality.

The role requires extensive landfill and waste industry experience, strong leadership, and the ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Waste industry experience required
• Management experience with P&L responsibilities
• 5+ years operating heavy equipment preferred
• Minimum 10 years landfill experience or equivalent
• Construction background a plus
• Must pass state EPA certification
• SWANA certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Oversee regional landfill operations and staff to meet safety and regulatory requirements
• Develop and manage regional operational plans, labor hours, and costs
• Ensure landfills comply with EPA/state/local inspections
• Coordinate with Landfill Managers on production and quality standards
• Monitor safety, quality, and delivery targets across the region
• Develop budgets, cost controls, and operational metrics
• Guide landfill development including staffing and equipment needs
• Review reports and resolve operational issues to minimize downtime
• Facilitate community relations during landfill projects
• Ensure required documentation and records are maintained
• May require nights/weekends and flexible hours
• Be available for 24‑hour emergency calls
