The Regional Intake Clinician is a behavioral health professional responsible for supporting admissions and patient access goals for multiple facilities within the designated region. This position provides clinical support across three designated facilities and may be required to report onsite to any of the designated facilities within the region within three hours of notification based on operational, clinical, contractual, or business needs. This role manages inbound referrals, phone-based assessments and intake screenings, and coordinates admissions in collaboration with the clinical teams. The Regional Intake Clinician must provide strong customer service, multitasking, and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions:

1. Promptly respond to inbound referrals via phone or fax.
2. Processes requests for admission from outside referral agencies and from within the community.
3. Reviews clinical packets for criteria in alignment with the capability and capacity of the facility.
4. Maintains understanding of admission and exclusionary criteria of each assigned facility.
5. Conducts phone assessments and Intake Screening and Assessment Part 1 thoroughly on all appropriate accepted patients.
6. Completes insurance benefit verification and authorizations.
7. Documents all calls and referrals into the EMR system.
8. Pre-admits patients in the hospital billing system.
9. Collaborates with other facility personnel to ensure appropriate recommendation of referrals.
10. Coordinates admission and transfer between other hospital systems, emergency departments, outpatient providers, and community referral sources.
11. Communicates projected admissions to designated facility staff.
12. Complies with organization policies and procedures.
13. Maintains ability to provide excellent customer service.
14. Completes other duties and projects as assigned.
