Job Summary

This position serves as a human resource (HR) consultant for assigned distribution centers, focusing on staffing management, employee relations, maintaining union-free operations, training and development, policy interpretation and compliance, benefits, and compensation. The role involves developing strategies to align HR initiatives with business goals, managing implementation, and tracking company-wide programs.

Responsibilities
  1. Analyze operations and HR-related data to identify trends and consult with center management to proactively address negative trends.
  2. Provide guidance and support to center HR Business Partners (HRBPs) and Training Managers on training, employee relations, staffing, benefits, compensation, policies, affirmative action planning, policy interpretation, and compliance.
  3. Deliver training on company-wide programs such as targeted selection, performance management, leadership workshops, corrective coaching, and labor advisement.
  4. Participate in developing and coordinating center-level training initiatives in conjunction with HRBPs and Training Managers.
  5. Review terminations to ensure policy adherence and evaluate potential liabilities.
  6. Draft company position statements in response to agency charges and investigate ethics hotline concerns within the assigned region.
  7. Develop and manage HR project plans for acquired companies and startup distribution centers, keeping senior management informed and recommending actions to stay on track.
  8. Ensure compliance with EEO/AA through training and facilitate the implementation of current performance management systems, including succession planning.
  9. Lead focus groups aimed at improving retention, training, and employee assimilation.
  10. Create and deliver presentations to corporate officers on HR practices.
  11. Participate in annual compensation review meetings and stay informed of relevant federal and state legislation, communicating changes to management.
Qualifications
Education

A 4-year degree, preferably in human resources, is preferred.

Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience.
  • At least 3 years of multi-unit experience.
  • Managerial experience with direct reports and field HR experience.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Certificate of auto insurance as per company policy.
Professional Skills
  • Functional HR expertise with the ability to train as needed.
  • Strong organizational and employment law knowledge (preferred).
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Experience in distribution or manufacturing sectors and recruiting.
  • Ability to analyze data and communicate clearly.
Other Requirements
  • Must be able to read at close distances, with or without correction.
  • Most work is conducted in a comfortable office environment.
  • Travel up to 25%, sometimes with short notice, using air and personal vehicle.
  • Operate equipment including automobile, PC, MS Office, and other software.
