Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a Regional Human Resources Director to lead HR strategy for the West Region, with a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite / 2 remote) and up to 50% travel. Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience.
  • Experience partnering with senior and executive leadership in a multi-state org.
  • Bachelor’s in HR or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance.
  • Experience leading change initiatives and organizational transformation.
  • Experience in unionized environments with bargaining and labor relations.
  • PHR or SPHR certification is a plus.
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, or complex operations is a plus.

About the Opportunity

Our client is a global leader in transportation, logistics, and supply chain solutions, with a large, geographically dispersed workforce across the United States. They are seeking a Regional Human Resources Director to lead HR strategy and operations for their West Region.

This is a highly visible leadership role supporting a complex, multi-state organization. The Regional HR Director will serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership while remaining hands-on with day-to-day HR operations, employee relations, organizational development, compliance, and talent initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a strong business partner who can operate strategically while also being comfortable getting into the details. This individual will help drive a high-performance culture, support organizational growth and change, and ensure HR programs align with evolving business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HR strategies, programs, and policies aligned with regional and organizational business objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted HR advisor and business partner to senior and executive-level leaders.
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on employee relations, performance management, organizational development, and other HR matters.
  • Lead HR initiatives supporting business growth, organizational transformation, and change management.
  • Oversee and deliver key HR programs through direct reports, HR teams, and Centers of Excellence.
  • Lead and develop a small-to-medium-sized HR team.
  • Ensure HR policies and practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws, with a strong focus on California employment law and compliance.
  • Partner with leadership to build a culture focused on employee engagement, performance, retention, and development.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems, and service delivery.
  • Manage relationships with HR vendors and external service providers, including outsourced payroll partners.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders on workforce planning, talent management, compensation, and employee development initiatives.
  • Support labor relations activities and maintain effective relationships within unionized environments.
  • Participate in collective bargaining, contract administration, grievance resolution, and other labor relations matters as needed.
  • Monitor HR initiatives and regional goals to ensure effective execution and continuous improvement.
  • Anticipate and proactively address employee, compliance, and organizational risks.
  • Stay current on employment legislation, HR best practices, and emerging trends affecting the organization.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Proven experience partnering with and influencing senior and executive-level leadership in a complex, multi-state organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing a small-to-medium-sized HR team.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance requirements.
  • Experience leading complex organizational change and transformation initiatives.
  • Strong employee relations and hands-on HR experience.
  • Experience working within a unionized environment, including collective bargaining, contract administration, and labor relations matters, strongly preferred.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business partnership capabilities combined with the ability to execute tactically.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
  • PHR or SPHR certification is a plus.
  • Experience within transportation, logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain, or a similarly complex operational environment is a plus.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Base Salary: $140,000 – $185,000 based on experience
