Job summary

Vortex Companies, LLC in Salisbury, NC, is seeking a Regional HSE Manager to lead enterprise health, safety, and environmental programs across regional sites. The role requires a Bachelor’s or higher in a related field (preferred), 5+ years HSE experience, and travel to project sites; CSP/ASP/CHST a bonus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• 5+ years of HSE experience in heavy civil or trenchless construction.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and environmental regulations.
• Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis.
• CSP, ASP, or CHST certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Analytical and detail oriented.
• Conflict resolution and claims negotiation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-wide health, safety, and environmental programs across regional operations.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and drive a strong safety culture.
• Manage incident investigations and workers’ compensation, auto, and general liability claims.
• Coordinate medical treatment and return-to-work programs.
• Prepare documentation and participate in claim reviews, depositions, or legal proceedings.
• Develop audits, inspections, and field safety observations.
• Lead safety training programs (confined space, excavation, equipment operation, hazard communication).
• Maintain records and analyze safety metrics.
• Coach supervisors and managers on safety leadership.
• Lead safety committees and safety initiatives.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field

CSP, ASP, or CHST certification preferred

Strong communication and leadership skills

Analytical and detail oriented
