Job summary

The County of Galveston is seeking an Homeland Security Planner to provide professional expertise in emergency management and planning within the Houston UASI region. The role coordinates regional plans, concepts of operations, and mitigation, preparedness, and response strategies for terrorist incidents across Galveston County and partner jurisdictions.

You will serve on regional committees, represent Galveston County in federal and state groups, advise on mutual aid and EOC operations, and

Qualifications

Requires High School diploma or GED.
Requires two years of education in NIMS/ICS and related classes.
Requires two years of experience in emergency management or closely related experience.
Ability to coordinate across multiple agencies and jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

Actively participates in the development and implementation of regional planning projects under the guidance of the Houston UASI Regional Collaboration Committee.
Represents Galveston County on appropriate committees and workgroups of the Houston UASI, HGAC and other organizations.
Advises on emergency operation planning, mutual aid agreements and inter-local agreements related to terrorist incidents.
Participates in hazard/risk analysis of critical infrastructure and coordinates public education programs.
