Job summary

Port Houston is seeking an Emergency Management professional to assist with preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts. You will help develop emergency plans, test response equipment, and manage inventory and training activities across drills and exercises.

Ideal candidates will have a background in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related fields, with required NIMS certifications and readiness for a fast-paced, on-call environment.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of emergency management principles.
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800 required.
  • NIMS 300, 400 required within one year of employment.
  • FEMA Professional Development Series certificate required within 2 years of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining the Port Houston Emergency Management Plan (EMP) and related annexes.
  • Conduct system checks of EOC, MCC and other Emergency Management response equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of departmental supplies and resources.
  • Assist with planning and organizing drills/exercises.
  • Incorporate lessons learned into emergency management processes.
  • Coordinate training efforts with external stakeholders and partners.
  • Prepare reports and special studies for Emergency Manager.
  • Attend meetings to stay abreast of emergency management trends.
