Job summary

Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services seeks a Regional Field Manager to lead the Office of Public Assistance regional operations in Montana. You will drive consistent service delivery, oversee staff, and ensure compliance with state and federal policies across multiple offices.

You will collaborate with division leadership to align regional goals with statewide metrics, manage recruiting and supervision, and promote continuous improvement while maintaining high customer service

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal laws pertaining to public assistance program requirements.
• Strong understanding of social, economic, and cultural factors affecting families and individuals served by public assistance programs.
• Knowledge of public assistance programs, eligibility determinations, and federal/state program requirements including SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, and HMK.
• Skill in analyzing data, identifying trends, and making informed decisions to improve operational effectiveness.
• Knowledge of customer-service principles, supervisory practices, organizational leadership, and personnel management.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex laws, regulations, and policies in a consistent and practical manner.
• Knowledge of program administration, budget, and personnel management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to coach, train, present information, and facilitate discussions with staff and stakeholders.
• Ability to oversee and monitor compliance with programs and procedures.
• Ability to foster effective collaboration with community partners, leadership, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to model professionalism, manage change, maintain resilience under pressure, and support teams through evolving expectations.
• Ability to achieve program improvements and call handling efficiency through continual review.
• Ability to motivate, mentor, and supervise personnel.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for regional Office of Public Assistance field offices.
• Oversee regional operations to ensure consistent, equitable, and accurate service delivery.
• Support staff in delivering high-quality customer service for public assistance offices.
• Collaborate with division leadership and local management to align operations with statewide goals and metrics.
• Recruit, retain, and manage personnel with due diligence and adherence to policies.
• Ensure adherence to federal and state public assistance policies.
