Job summary

Ergon Inc. is seeking a Regional Environmental Specialist to ensure day-to-day environmental compliance across a portfolio of asphalt and petroleum plants and terminals in the region.

This field-based role emphasizes inspections, waste management, spill response, sampling coordination, and training to keep site records audit-ready. You will collaborate with the corporate EHS team, outside consultants, and regulators on permit applications and complex reporting, while maintaining strong hands-on

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
• 2+ years of environmental, EHS, or compliance experience in industrial settings.
• HAZWOPER training is preferred; willingness to obtain if needed.
• Strong field judgment and ability to work across sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and self-audits at multiple sites.
• Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling and labeling.
• Support SPCC and SWPPP programs with inspections and plan updates.
• Lead initial response to spills and document investigations.
• Collect samples and coordinate with labs; compile reports.
• Maintain site records and compliance calendars.
• Deliver on-site environmental training to plant personnel.
• Assist with permit-related data gathering and site access.
• Coordinate with EPA/state/local agencies for inspections.
