Job summary

Ergon, Inc. is seeking a Regional Environmental Specialist to support day-to-day environmental compliance across an assigned portfolio of asphalt and petroleum plants and terminals.

This field-based role focuses on inspections, waste management, spill responses, sampling coordination, training delivery, and keeping site records audit-ready. You will work with plant personnel, the corporate EHS team, outside consultants, and regulatory agencies on permit-related and complex reporting tasks as

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.
• 2+ years in environmental, EHS, or compliance-related roles in industrial settings is preferred.
• Familiarity with waste management, spill prevention, and stormwater concepts is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Serve as day-to-day environmental contact for multiple plants and terminals in a region.
• Conduct inspections and self-audits; track findings through to correction.
• Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling and coordination with disposal vendors.
• Assist SPCC/SWPPP programs; inspect, maintain equipment, and keep site plans current.
• Respond to spills/incidents; assist with cleanup coordination and documentation.
• Collect environmental samples and coordinate with labs for required reports.
• Maintain site recordkeeping and compliance calendars; ensure training deadlines are met.
• Deliver hands-on environmental training to plant personnel.
• Assist with permit-related tasks; support but do not draft permits.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies during inspections and site visits.
• Participate in incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Flag emerging compliance risks to corporate EHS leadership.
• Support capital projects and pre-startup walk-downs at the site level.
• Perform other environmental compliance support duties across the region.
