Job summary

QTS Data Centers is seeking a Vice President, Regional External Affairs to lead the external affairs strategy across a multi-state region. You will oversee government relations, public policy, economic development, permitting and community engagement, and oversee a regional team of 10–12 professionals.

This role partners with Communications, Marketing, Legal, Development, Energy Strategy, Operations, and the Executive Team to advance business priorities and strengthen QTS’s reputation as a

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public policy or related field.
• 12+ years in government affairs or external affairs leadership.
• Experience leading multi-state regional teams and budgets.
• Strong advocacy, stakeholder engagement and policy development skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively across the region.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive regional external affairs strategy aligned with growth and public policy.
• Lead advocacy campaigns at state and local levels to advance priorities.
• Direct and develop a high-performing regional team.
• Partner with cross-functional leaders to align external affairs with corporate objectives.
• Manage budgets, consultants and resources for legislative and development priorities.
• Build relationships with officials, regulators, economic development orgs, and stakeholders.
• Anticipate policy issues and craft proactive risk mitigation strategies.
• Serve as a member of External Affairs leadership and contribute to enterprise strategy.
• Represent QTS as a senior leader and trusted advocate.
