Job summary

Penhall Company is seeking an Estimator to perform cost estimates for demolition, concrete cutting, and related services. This full-time role requires reviewing drawings, performing takeoffs, and developing bid strategies.

The Estimator will coordinate with branch managers, travel regionally (approximately 30-50%), mentor junior staff, and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating databases. Penhall offers comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Strong knowledge of demolition methods, equipment, sequencing, and safety regulations.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Experience estimating projects from small service work to multi-million-dollar projects.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and presentation abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines.
• Valid Real ID driver's license with regional travel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and complete cost estimates for demolition and related services.
• Review drawings, specs, contracts, schedules, bid documents, and project requirements.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, equipment, subcontractor, disposal, and material pricing.
• Develop bid and pricing strategies balancing competitiveness, capacity, risk, and profitability.
• Solicit and level subcontractor quotations.
• Prepare proposals, bid packages, scope clarifications, exclusions, assumptions, and value-engineering options.
• Participate in project reviews to compare estimated versus actual costs.
• Travel throughout the assigned region as required.
• Lead estimating turnover meetings and support project startup with clear scope and risks.
• Maintain estimating databases and templates; share knowledge across the region.
