Job summary

Linde Inc. in Wilmington, CA seeks a Regional Environmental Specialist to support environmental compliance across California and neighboring states.

You will develop and maintain programs, train staff, and provide technical guidance on air, water and waste regulations, including Title V, NSR and RMP compliance. The position requires 5+ years of environmental experience in refinery/chemical settings, plus strong regulatory knowledge, interpersonal skills and the ability to travel ~40%.

Qualifications

• Environmental Science degree or related field.

What you will enjoy doing*

• You will report to the LGUS Associate Director, Environmental and supporting facilities primarily in California and surrounding states
• Implement and maintain environmental compliance programs, standard work practices, management systems, and compliance tools across assigned facilities
• Monitor environmental performance and provide leadership, guidance, technical support, and training for air, water, and waste compliance
• Collaborate with plant personnel and SH&E Field Specialists to identify and address environmental compliance issues
• Further, you will develop and maintain compliance with environmental permits and regulatory requirements, including air, waste, water, ODS, CUPA, RMP, and SARA
• Prepare and support permit applications, amendments, and exemptions, including Title V, minor source, PSD, and NSR
• Complete and submit required environmental reports, including GHG, CEMS, TSCA, TRI, Title V Deviations, Tier II, stormwater, discharge monitoring, and NPDES reporting
• And you will track compliance metrics, maintain required records, and participate in business and corporate assessments
• Review current and proposed environmental legislation to determine applicability to the business
• Provide environmental support for plant modifications and new projects and develop compliance systems for project changes
• Interface with state and federal regulatory agencies regarding permits, applications, inspections, and potential enforcement issues
• And you will also support Emission Cap and Trade programs and collaborate with Regional Specialists to improve compliance programs, training, and environmental awareness

What makes you great

• You have an Environmental Science (or related) degree
• Five (5+) years of direct environmental experience in air, water, and waste, including experience working in a refinery, chemical, or petrochemical plant
• Regulatory knowledge including but not limited to Title V/NSR permitting, GHG Permitting, Refinery Regulations, NSPS, MACT, RCRA, CWA, SWPPP, SPCC, and NPDES compliance programs required, with working knowledge of Environmental Regulations
• You have strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and the capability to work independently or in a team environment
• Computer experience with proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as proficiency in Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
• Willingness and ability to obtain necessary security clearances or identification cards as required
• You have ability to operate in both office and field environments and travel approximately 40%, including some overnight stays
