Job summary

Hanson Professional Services Inc. in Chicago, IL, seeks an experienced Regional Environmental Assessment Lead to advance infrastructure and development projects.

You will lead NEPA documentation, permitting, field investigations, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring regulatory compliance and resource protection. Key qualifications include 5+ years in environmental consulting or agency work, a BS in a related field (MS preferred), and strong writing and client-facing skills.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of NEPA, CWA permitting, ESA compliance, and major environmental laws.
• Experience with fieldwork and technical reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and client interaction.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary project teams.
• Willingness to travel regionally for projects.
• Professional certifications such as PWS, CEP, CPESC, CHMM are preferred.
• Experience in transportation, utility, energy, federal, or municipal projects.
• Familiarity with GIS, ecological modeling, or advanced environmental analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage environmental projects from planning through delivery.
• Oversee environmental modeling, field surveys, data analysis, and studies.
• Prepare and certify reports, CE/EA documents and permit applications.
• Develop scopes, schedules, budgets, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with regulatory agencies and clients across markets.
• Support environmental staff, proposals, and business development.
