Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Estimator to lead and manage estimating activities across regions. You will work with project managers, prepare and review cost estimates, and supervise cost data and bid packages to ensure competitive proposals.

The role requires strong knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and the ability to coordinate with design leads to ensure constructability and value. Domestic/international travel is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 10 years of related experience with at least 3 of those years in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Manages and administers the estimating functions in assigned region, area or group to include operating budgets, staffing assignments, and work assignments.
• Implements established estimating policies in in assigned region, area or group to meet overall corporate objectives.
• Works with project managers to provide administrative and technical assistance in negotiating purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders during procurement.
• Supervises the preparation of market cost studies, materials and methods, and recommends appropriate changes to database.
• Assists region leadership by reviewing project details and provides recommendations, and collaboratively determines strategies, techniques, and resources needed.
• Provides close coordination and oversight with design discipline leads for cost effectiveness and constructability for proposals.
• Ensures standardized use of approved estimating systems, maintenance and enhances of the cost database estimating system.
• Maintains all historical data for estimating man-hours for various types of estimates (i.e. hard bid, design/build, construction management at risk, opinions of probable construction cost, etc.) and bid results by project.
• Reviews all final estimate and proposal packages to ensure accuracy and completeness for formal quotation and presentation.
• Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
• Performs additional duties as required.
