Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced estimator to manage and administer estimating functions across regions and groups. You will oversee budgets, staffing, and work assignments while implementing policies to meet corporate objectives and supporting procurement with subcontract negotiations.

You will collaborate with project managers and design leads to ensure cost effectiveness, constructability, and accurate final estimates for formal quotations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 10 years of related experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory/management capacity.
• Travel may be required (20%–40%), depending on workload and project demands.

Responsibilities

• Manages and administers estimating functions for the region or group, including budgets, staffing, and work assignments.
• Implements estimating policies to meet corporate objectives.
• Supports procurement by negotiating purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders with project managers.
• Supervises preparation of market cost studies, materials and methods, and updates the cost database.
• Reviews project details with region leadership to determine strategies and required resources.
• Coordinates with design leads for cost effectiveness and constructability in proposals.
• Ensures standardized use of estimating systems and maintains the cost database.
• Maintains historical data for estimating man-hours across estimate types and bid results.
• Reviews final estimates and proposal packages for accuracy and completeness.
• Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
• Performs additional duties as required.
