Job summary

CDM Smith seeks an experienced estimator to lead regional estimating efforts in a dynamic environment. You will manage budgets, staffing, and procurement support, while ensuring accuracy and consistency across bids and proposals for diverse projects.

Travel 20-40% may be required as you collaborate with project teams and suppliers. Strong communication, cost-analytic skills, and familiarity with estimating software are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent. 10 years of related experience with at least 3 in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Travel frequency depends on duties and workload.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Manages and administers the estimating functions in assigned region, area or group, including budgets, staffing, and work assignments.
• Implements established estimating policies to meet corporate objectives.
• Works with project managers to provide admin and technical help in negotiating PO, subcontracts, and change orders.
• Supervises preparation of market cost studies and materials/methods; recommends database updates.
• Reviews project details with region leadership and helps determine strategies and resources.
• Coordinates with design leads for cost effectiveness and constructability in proposals.
• Ensures standardized use of approved estimating systems and maintains cost databases.
• Maintains historical data for estimating man-hours and bid results by project.
• Reviews final estimate and proposal packages for accuracy and completeness.
• Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
