Job summary

American Red Cross in Dedham, MA is seeking a Regional Disaster Officer to lead a diverse team of staff and volunteers in delivering disaster services across the region.

You will oversee the full disaster cycle, align with standards, and build leadership capacity among volunteers while coordinating with partners for readiness, response, and recovery. A bachelor’s degree plus extensive management experience are required for this leadership role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Minimum 7 years of related experience.
• 5 years of management experience of paid or volunteer workforce.
• Travel is required and a valid driver’s license is needed.

Responsibilities

• Direct an employee and diverse volunteer team to implement volunteer-led disaster services in the region.
• Oversee the disaster cycle services program in line with standards.
• Develop regional Disaster Leadership Volunteers and partnerships.
• Mobilize communities and engage partners for disaster readiness and response.
• Collaborate in a matrix management environment with internal partners.
• Act as the regional disaster leader and subject matter expert.
• Coordinate and manage disaster relief operations in the region.
