Job summary

Harvard University CADM is seeking a Regional Director for Major Gifts to lead sophisticated cultivation and solicitation strategies for a 100+ household West Coast portfolio. You will partner with internal teams and volunteers to secure six- and seven-figure gifts, with annual targets of $5M+ as you advance unrestricted and flexibly restricted support.

The role requires extensive relationship building, strategic prospect planning, and occasional travel with senior academic and administrative

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in university fundraising or relevant transferable experience required.
• Ability to travel approximately 35% of working days.
• You will be expected to work certain events/campus activities, such as reunions each Spring, and participate in department retreats that are taking place on campus in Cambridge, MA.

Responsibilities

• Manage a targeted portfolio of 100+ households in the West Coast region.
• Meet or exceed assigned goals for prospect visits, solicitations, gift closures and dollars raised.
• Acquire deep understanding of prospects’ philanthropic interests, capacity, and inclination through meetings.
• Develop multi-step prospect strategies and leverage Harvard leadership to secure six- and seven-figure gifts.
• Coordinate with Harvard College Fund, Gift Planning, Major Gift and Principal Gift teams to elevate support.
• Communicate meeting strategies through briefs and pre-visit discussions.
• Travel occasionally with senior leaders to advance prospect strategies.
• Collaborate with campus partners to deepen relationships and maximize giving potential.
• Mentor other fundraisers and contribute to strategic reviews and trainings.
