Job summary

Harvard University is seeking a Regional Director of Development, Major Gifts for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. This full-time, exempt role manages a 100+ prospect portfolio on the West Coast and drives six- and seven-figure gifts through strategic cultivation and solicitation.

You will collaborate with Principal Gifts, Gift Planning, and University Development teams, traveling as needed and supporting Harvard's AA&D mission from a hybrid work environment in Cambridge, MA and beyond.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in university fundraising or relevant transferable experience.
• Ability to travel approximately 35% of working days.
• You will be expected to work certain events/campus activities, such as reunions each Spring, and participate in department retreats that are taking place on campus in Cambridge, MA.

Responsibilities

• Manage a targeted portfolio of 100+ households in the West Coast region.
• Meet or exceed assigned goals for prospect visits, solicitations, successful gift closures, and dollars raised; qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio.
• Acquire a deep understanding of prospects’ philanthropic interests through face-to-face and virtual meetings.
• Develop thoughtful strategies and prioritize prospects to ensure revenue goals are met and maintain active regional presence.
• Leverage academic leadership and Harvard community to secure six- and seven-figure gifts.
• Adhere to prospect management processes and policies to ensure transparency and effectiveness across departments.
• Support Harvard College Fund, Gift Planning, Major Gifts and Principal Gifts teams by identifying new prospects and coordinating efforts.
