Job summary

A premier structural concrete contractor in Southern California is seeking an experienced Director of Place & Finish Operations to lead concrete placement and finishing across multiple projects. This high-impact role oversees field crews, sets quality standards, coordinates complex pours, and builds scalable operations to support growth.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of concrete place and finish experience, preferably commercial or structural construction.
• Proven experience leading multiple place and finish crews (≈40 field personnel).
• Established reputation as a leader who recruits, retains and mentors teams.
• Strong knowledge of placement, curing, quality control, and large-scale pours.
• Ability to read structural drawings and project specs.
• Willingness to travel throughout Southern California ~4 days/week.

Responsibilities

• Direct all concrete placement and finishing operations across Southern California, overseeing multiple crews and ~40 personnel.
• Lead and expand place and finish crews while maintaining workmanship, productivity, and quality.
• Establish and enforce standards for placement, finishing, curing, protection, and quality control.
• Plan and coordinate major pours: manpower, equipment, deliveries, pumping, crew assignments, sequencing.
• Coordinate with PM, preconstruction, and field superintendents to align schedules and requirements.
• Monitor labor hours, production quantities, crew performance, and equipment utilization to identify improvements.
• Provide technical leadership on complex placements and develop contingency plans for disruptions.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop finishing foremen and superintendents; build leadership pipeline.
• Enforce OSHA and CA safety requirements; promote quality-first field culture.
• Develop standardized production reporting and KPIs to support regional expansion.
