Job summary

Alfred Williams & Company is seeking a Regional Designer in Charlotte, NC to lead furniture layouts and space planning. Proficiency with AutoCAD and CET Designer is required, with strong vendor coordination and installation drawing development.

Five years of commercial furniture design experience is preferred. The role emphasizes collaboration across cross-functional teams, adherence to codes and standards, and development of compelling color/material presentations for client proposals.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a four-year program or equivalent work experience with a bachelor’s/associate degree in interior design; preferred.
• Minimum of five years practical experience in commercial furniture design and planning.
• Proficiency in CET Designer is required.
• MillerKnoll product knowledge is strongly preferred.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.

Responsibilities

• Input furniture layouts and space plans into AutoCAD via CAP and CET.
• Develop client proposals with pricing and discounts for commercial furniture.
• Create color and material presentations, both electronic and physical.
• Coordinate with vendors to determine pricing and discounts.
• Set up and maintain project files per design standards.
• Field verify and measure site conditions for accuracy.
• Develop installation drawings and space plans.
• Apply Building Codes, ADA requirements, and electrical/data constraints to projects.

Responsibilities and Technical Skills

• Skilled and efficientinput of furniture layouts and space plans into AutoCAD via CAP and CET
• Experience with pricing and discounting commercial furniture to produce client proposals
• Development of color and material presentations, both electronic and physical
• Communicate with vendors to determine pricing, discounts, etc.
• Set up and maintain project files per design and company standards
• Field verification and measurement of site conditions
• Experience in space planning, typical development, and systems furniture layout
• Compile detailed inventory of existing product (stored or on-site) & record information with minimal assistance
• Development of installation drawings
• Basic understanding of Building Codes, ADA requirements, and Electrical/Data requirements applied to a project
• Check all drawings and specifications for 100% accuracy
• Assist to define the scope of a project, assess customer needs and program design applications
• Active and thoughtful participation in client interactions and programming sessions
