Job summary

Alfred Williams & Company, a MillerKnoll dealer and a leading furniture planning team in the Greenville showroom, is seeking a Designer. You will input layouts in AutoCAD via CAP and CET, develop material proposals, and coordinate with vendors to deliver client-focused spaces.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in commercial furniture design, CET Designer proficiency, and strong MS Office skills. A four-year interior design education is preferred and MillerKnoll knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a four-year program or equivalent; interior design degree preferred.
  • Minimum five years of practical experience in commercial furniture design and planning.
  • Proficiency in CET Designer is required.
  • MillerKnoll product knowledge strongly preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Responsibilities

  • Input furniture layouts and space plans into AutoCAD via CAP and CET.
  • Price and discount commercial furniture to prepare client proposals.
  • Develop color and material presentations, electronically and physically.
  • Coordinate with vendors on pricing and discounts.
  • Set up and maintain project files per design and company standards.
  • Field verify and measure site conditions; perform space planning and systems furniture layout.
  • Compile inventories of existing products and record data.
  • Develop installation drawings; ensure 100% drawing/spec accuracy.

To further build and develop our furniture planning team, Alfred Williams & Company is looking for a Designer. Responsibilities and skillset requirements include:

Personal and Interpersonal Skills
  • Self-starter who is highly motivated, flexible, and able to multi-task
  • Works well in a cross-functional team environment, exhibiting exceptional communication skills
  • Able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines on multiple projects simultaneously
Responsibilities and Technical Skills
  • Skilled and efficient input of furniture layouts and space plans into AutoCAD via CAP and CET
  • Experience with pricing and discounting commercial furniture to produce client proposals
  • Development of color and material presentations, both electronic and physical
  • Communicate with vendors to determine pricing, discounts, etc.
  • Set up and maintain project files per design and company standards
  • Field verification and measurement of site conditions
  • Experience in space planning, typical development, and systems furniture layout
  • Compile detailed inventory of existing product (stored or on-site) & record information with minimal assistance
  • Development of installation drawings
  • Basic understanding of Building Codes, ADA requirements, and Electrical/Data requirements applied to a project
  • Check all drawings and specifications for 100% accuracy
  • Assist to define the scope of a project, assess customer needs and program design applications
  • Active and thoughtful participation in client interactions and programming sessions
Qualifications
  • Graduate of a four-year program or equivalent work experience with a two-year degree with a bachelor's/associate degree in interior design, preferred.
  • A minimum five-year practical experience in commercial furniture design and planning.
  • Proficiency in CET Designer is required.
  • MillerKnoll product knowledge is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Professional
