About the Role

Our client, a prominent logistics provider servicing the renowned wine industry, is seeking an experienced Regional Delivery Supervisor to oversee operations in the Paarl, Western Cape region. This hybrid role requires a blend of on-site leadership and administrative coordination to ensure the efficient, safe, and timely delivery of wine products to various distribution points and clients. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of logistics, fleet management, and a strong ability to motivate and manage a team of drivers within the heart of the Cape Winelands. This is a key position supporting the vital agricultural and export sector of Paarl.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage a team of delivery drivers, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
• Plan and optimize delivery routes for the region, considering delivery windows, traffic conditions, and customer requirements.
• Ensure all deliveries are executed safely and efficiently, meeting company standards for product handling and delivery confirmation.
• Monitor driver performance and adherence to schedules, addressing any issues or delays promptly.
• Conduct regular vehicle inspections and coordinate maintenance with the fleet management team to ensure vehicle safety and operational readiness.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, driver activities, vehicle status, and inventory movements.
• Liaise with winery clients, distribution centers, and sales teams to ensure seamless communication and operational alignment.
• Implement and enforce company policies, safety regulations, and quality control measures within the delivery team.
• Assist in managing inventory levels and ensuring accurate order fulfillment for shipments.
• Contribute to process improvements aimed at enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a logistics or transportation role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Proven experience in managing a team of drivers and overseeing delivery operations.
• Strong knowledge of logistics management, route planning, and fleet maintenance.
• Familiarity with the wine industry or handling perishable/fragile goods is a significant advantage.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid role, balancing office duties with field supervision.
• Proficiency in using dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and MS Office Suite.
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) and appropriate driver's license (Code 10 or higher).
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to managing operational challenges.
• Knowledge of the Western Cape road network and local conditions is essential.
