Position Purpose:
Develops, implements, and monitors all logistics management activities required for the timely and efficient transportation and distribution of products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop solutions that leverage the company's volumes, systems, and partnerships while providing high levels of customer service in a cost-effective manner.
- Identify and prioritize logistics needs; communicate recommendations to upper management to achieve efficient product distribution.
- Provide data and recommendations on product tracking, route analysis, rerouting, costing, and usage alternatives.
- Advise IS and system users in logistics systems improvements and changes.
- Respond to Requests for Information (RFI) from potential software vendors.
- Test vendor software packages to identify shortcomings and assess vendors' ability to customize products to Home Depot specifications.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- Reports to Sr. Manager, Director, Sr. Director, or VP.
- Requires interpersonal skills for sensitive or controversial situations.
- Handles unstructured situations requiring original approaches.
- Considers new courses of action within broad policies and medium-term goals.
- Defines priorities and determines actions once given general assignments.
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Spends frequent time standing or sitting; may occasionally need to stoop or lift light objects (less than 8 pounds).
