Job summary

American Medical Administrators LTC is seeking a Regional CPI Instructor to train Skilled Nursing Facility staff in crisis prevention, de-escalation, and safe intervention techniques. You will deliver initial and refresher CPI courses and evaluate staff competency to ensure residents’ dignity and safety.

This role requires healthcare experience, strong communication, and willingness to travel between facilities within the region, with a focus on documentation and adherence to policy.

Qualifications

• Healthcare experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, behavioral health, or similar.
• Strong crisis-prevention and de-escalation knowledge.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to conduct hands-on training and evaluate staff competency.
• Strong organizational skills with training documentation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct CPI training and certification for nursing, clinical, and facility staff.
• Provide initial and refresher CPI training per organizational requirements.
• Teach crisis prevention, verbal de-escalation, communication, and safe intervention techniques.
• Demonstrate appropriate responses to aggressive or escalating resident behaviors.
• Emphasize least-restrictive, trauma-informed, person-centered approaches.
• Conduct hands-on training and evaluate staff competency in CPI techniques.
• Maintain accurate training, certification, and competency records.
• Partner with Nursing, Clinical, and Facility Leadership to identify training needs.
• Provide coaching and follow-up education when behavioral incidents indicate needs.
• Ensure CPI training aligns with facility policies, regulations, and CPI program requirements.
• Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, dignity, and respect.
