Job summary

Risus Talent Partners LLC seeks a hands-on Controller to lead accounting and financial operations across three locations in New England. You will own monthly closes and financial reporting while partnering with divisional leadership to deliver insights.

The role requires a strong month-end close track record, GAAP knowledge, and excellent Excel/analytical skills. Travel to other locations is periodic.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly close activities across multiple locations, owning three monthly closes.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, depreciation, and other period-end activities.
• Investigate financial discrepancies, unusual variances, and balance sheet issues.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, forecasts, budgets, and financial analysis.
• Partner with operational leaders to understand business performance and provide financial insights.
• Support cash management, banking activities, AP/AR oversight, and other financial administration.
• Strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, reporting consistency, and overall efficiency.
• Support internal and external audits and tax reporting.
• Help integrate accounting processes and reporting for acquired businesses.
• Build relationships across finance, operations, and leadership.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes through technology and automation.

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Controller to support accounting and financial operations across multiple locations within a growing New England division.

This is an exciting opportunity for an accounting professional who is ready to take on broader responsibility and continue growing their career. You do not need to be a long-tenured Controller to be successful in this position. We are open to candidates coming from an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Senior Accounting, public accounting, or similar background who have strong month-end close experience and are ready for the next step.

Working closely with the Divisional CFO, this individual will ultimately take ownership of the monthly close and financial reporting process for three locations while gaining significant exposure to regional finance operations, recently acquired businesses, and senior leadership.

What You'll Do

• Lead monthly close activities across multiple locations, ultimately owning three monthly closes
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, depreciation, and other period-end activities
• Investigate financial discrepancies, unusual variances, and balance sheet issues
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, forecasts, budgets, and financial analysis
• Partner with operational leaders to understand business performance and provide meaningful financial insights
• Support cash management, banking activities, check runs, AP/AR oversight, and other financial administration
• Strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, reporting consistency, and overall efficiency

• Build strong relationships across finance, operations, commercial teams, and leadership

• Strong experience with month-end close, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Strong Excel and analytical skills
