Job summary

Russell is seeking a Business Development Leader for the Kansas City region (Leawood, KS). This on-site role drives new business in manufacturing and industrial markets, aligning BD, preconstruction, and operations to build a strong pipeline and win repeat business.

You will develop value propositions, manage strategic accounts, and travel as needed to engage clients and partners. A track record in construction BD and client relationships is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of business development or sales experience; 10+ years preferred.
• Experience in construction, manufacturing or industrial markets preferred.
• Proven track record developing new business and long-term client relationships.
• Established business and community relationships in the Kansas City region.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, preconstruction planning, and operational execution.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Sales training and experience with client management/CRM software is a plus.
• Ability and willingness to travel overnight for conferences and client meetings; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue project opportunities through proactive networking and partnerships.
• Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified leads and manage the sales process.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with BD, preconstruction and operations teams to win work.
• Develop value propositions and compelling proposals for manufacturing and industrial markets.
• Maintain market intelligence and inform pricing strategy and resource planning.
• Represent Russell as a brand ambassador in the Kansas City region.
