Job summary

Psomas, a 100% employee-owned firm, seeks a Regional Accounting Specialist in Roseville, CA. You will provide project accounting support across billing, contracts, AR and AP, collaborating with PMs and corporate accounting.

The role is full-time with a 3 days in-office / 2 days remote hybrid schedule, offering ownership benefits and career development within a community-focused engineering and construction practice.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience, including in an Architecture, Engineering, or Construction environment.
• Knowledge of standard contract terms (hourly, lump sum, not-to-exceed, cost plus fixed fee) and their impact on accounting processes.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, plus Word/Outlook/Teams.

Responsibilities

• Set up new projects and maintain accurate financial information per contracts and project requirements.
• Prepare monthly billings and final invoice packages with accuracy and client compliance.
• Assist with contract administration, change orders, approvals, and project closeout.
• Coordinate with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to reconcile cash applications and consultant invoices.
• Advise Project Managers on billing, contracts, and project accounting matters.
• Address client billing and project accounting questions directly with clients.
• Apply knowledge of contract types (hourly, lump sum, not-to-exceed, cost-plus-fixed-fee) to project accounting activities.

Our Accounting Team in Roseville, CA is seeking a Regional Accounting Specialist to provide project accounting support across billing, contracts, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. You'll partner with Project Managers and our corporate accounting team to help ensure accurate financial management throughout the project lifecycle.

What You'll Do

As a Regional Accounting Specialist, you will utilize your skills and expertise coordinating with our corporate office to provide our engineering, survey and construction management teams with billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable and other accounting-related support.

• Project Accounting: Set up new projects and maintain accurate financial information in accordance with contracts and project requirements.
• Billing & Invoicing: Prepare monthly billings and final invoice packages, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client requirements.
• Contract Support: Assist with contract administration, change orders, modifications, approvals, additional services, and project closeout.
• Financial Coordination: Work with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to reconcile cash application variances and coordinate consultant invoices and reimbursable expenses.
• Project Support: Advise Project Managers and project teams on billing, contracts, and other project accounting matters.
• Client Resolution: Work directly with clients to address project accounting and billing questions.
• Process Expertise: Apply knowledge of hourly, lump sum, not-to-exceed, and cost-plus-fixed-fee contracts to project accounting activities.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in an Architecture, Engineering, or Construction (A/E/C) environment.
• Knowledge of standard contract terms, including hourly, lump sum, not-to-exceed, cost plus fixed fee and how they are applied in the accounting process
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; proficiency in Word, Outlook, and Teams.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with both internal and external stakeholders both in an office atmosphere and virtually.
• High school diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Deltek Vision and/or Vantagepoint.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• Experience supporting project-based professional services organizations.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Range: $38.00-$45.00/hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
