Job summary

Psomas is seeking an Office Engineer / Field Engineer for the Bay Area construction management team. You will support heavy civil and public works projects including wastewater facilities, pipelines, and pump stations, performing field observations and project documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Valid CA driver license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
• EIT certification is preferred.
• Experience in civil infrastructure/public works is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support construction administration and field observation for active wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Prepare RFIs, submittals, change orders, progress payments, and other project communications.
• Interpret plans and specs to support field and office decisions.
• Maintain project records, as-built documentation, schedules, and compliance tracking.
• Coordinate between clients, contractors, and design teams to ensure progress.

As our Office Engineer / Field Engineer for our Construction Management team in the Bay Area, you'll support heavy civil and public works projects, including wastewater treatment plants, recycled water facilities, pipelines, and pump stations in the East Bay Area (Alameda and Contra Costa Counties).

What You'll Do

As our Office Engineer / Field Engineer, you will support construction administration, field observation, and project documentation for active wastewater infrastructure projects.

• Field Support & Construction Observation- Observe construction activities and support field operations on active heavy civil projects.
• Project Documentation & Administration- Prepare and process RFIs, submittals, change orders, progress payments, and other project communications.
• Technical Support & Interpretation- Assist with interpretation of plans and specifications to support field and office construction decisions.
• Project Records & Compliance-Maintain project files, as-built documentation, schedules, and support prevailing wage and labor compliance tracking.
• Coordination & Communication- Facilitate communication between clients, contractors, and design teams to ensure project alignment and progress.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
• Valid CA driver license and reliable transportation to access project site(s) in addition to standard daily commute
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications
• Strong understanding of the construction process and field operations computer literacy
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work on active construction sites, including uneven terrain, ladders, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, preferred
• Prior experience in civil infrastructure or public works construction, a plus

Compensation & Benefits

• Compensation: $40.00 - $51.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
