Job summary

City of Keller is seeking an Emergency Communications Specialist to operate center equipment, answer calls, and coordinate dispatch for Police, Fire/EMS, and city services across Keller, Westlake, Southlake and Colleyville.

The role requires calm decision-making under stress, the ability to work shifts up to 12 hours, and rapid coordination of emergency responses. A Texas certification and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with safe driving record.
• Texas Certification for Emergency Telecommunications required.
• Ability to pass vision and audiogram tests.
• Pass written exam, background, and medical checks.

Responsibilities

• Operate communications equipment and receive emergency and admin calls.
• Coordinate calls for Police, Fire/EMS, and other city services across multiple cities.
• Maintain radio contact and record calls and unit dispatch details.
• Provide CPR and EMT dispatch instructions when needed.
• Assist with jail/records support and data transfers between agencies.
