Job summary

The City of Keller is seeking a Lateral Emergency Communications Specialist (CERTIFIED ONLY) for the Keller Police Department. This full-time clerical role acts as the communications anchor for Police, Fire/EMS, Animal Control, Jail, and Public Works across multiple cities, handling calls and coordinating responses under pressure.

Salary ranges $28.89 to $34.52 per hour with $4,000 regional pay. Sign-on $2,500 and relocation $2,500 incentives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
• Must hold Texas Certification for Emergency Telecommunications.
• Ability to pass vision and Audiogram tests.
• Ability to type 25 words per minute.
• One year emergency dispatch experience preferred.
• CJIS requirements: no disqualifying offenses in past ten years.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the communication anchor for Police, Fire/EMS, Animal Control, Jail, Public Works and more across multiple cities.
• Answer requests via multiple channels and coordinate responses by transferring calls as needed.
• Provide CPR and Emergency Medical Dispatch Instructions until responders arrive.
• Dispatch appropriate units and maintain radio contact; record call details.
• Maintain records in TCIC/TLETS and monitor security systems.
• Assist jail operations and Records Division as needed.
