Job summary

Bethany Christian Services is seeking a Refugee Group Home Youth Specialist for the 2nd shift (2PM-10PM or 3PM-11PM) in Grand Rapids, MI. The role supports refugee and immigrant children, helps with reunification, and collaborates with foster families to provide a safe, caring home environment.

Responsibilities include supervising residents, adhering to treatment plans, and coordinating with staff to ensure well-being and progress. A high school diploma and child welfare experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year of child welfare experience working with children/adolescents.
• Experience with youth in residential settings preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to provide excellent and compassionate customer service.
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
• Reliable with time-sensitive deadlines and tasks.
• Must be 21+ with a valid driver’s license and 3+ years driving experience in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in assigned activities and encourage positive interaction among residents.
• Attend bi-monthly meetings with supervisor to discuss performance and concerns.
• Follow treatment guidelines and intervene in a caring, consistent manner as needed.
• Conduct CPI procedures when necessary.
• Oversee residents’ daily routines including meals, study time, outings, and bedtime.
• Serve as a residential advocate by reviewing histories and noting issues requiring attention.
