Job summary

Journey's End Refugee Services in Buffalo seeks a Resources Coordinator to manage pre-arrival housing setup for new arrival refugees and to provide general support for the Community Integration Services department. This role collaborates with the PIR team and the Community Engagement Manager to ensure timely communication with housing stakeholders and staff.

Qualifications

• Must have regular access to a safe, licensed vehicle and a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift and carry up to fifty pounds.
• Friendly demeanor and calm disposition.
• Ability to communicate with landlords, providers, and JERS staff in a timely, professional, assertive manner.
• Ability to drive a van or rental van for moving items.
• Organizational and time-management skills, including attention to detail and task follow-through.
• Excellent verbal and written documentation for volunteers and case notes.
• Strong computer skills, including databases and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Self-direction and ability to work in a team environment.
• Some night and weekend hours required.
• May assist with other relevant duties related to Community Integration Services and/or JERS.

Responsibilities

• Locate appropriate housing for newly arriving refugees by establishing and expanding relationships with landlords.
• Work with case managers and landlords to arrange rent payments.
• Assist with securing temporary housing when permanent housing is not available.
• Source all required household items for apartment setup through donation or purchase.
• Coordinate apartment setups with Community Outreach Manager to ensure volunteers are available to clean and furnish the home.
• Arrange professional apartment cleanings if necessary.
• Be on site during apartment set ups to ensure setup is done correctly and address concerns.
• Comply with program requirements including case notes, PIR housing forms, check requests, inspections, and landlord statements.
• Communicate with utility providers to activate utilities and ensure working appliances.
• Work with case managers and outreach to coordinate tasks for on-site interns and volunteers.
