Job summary

Ascentria Care Alliance in Worcester, MA is seeking an Employment Counselor for the Services for New Americans team. You will provide employment-related assistance, develop employment plans, conduct job searches, and train clients on US workforce basics, helping refugees gain self-sufficiency.

You will build relationships with employers, coordinate with agencies, and deliver pre-employment orientations, budgeting, and post-placement support while ensuring culturally competent service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Two years’ experience required.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to handle situations with diplomacy and tact.
• Knowledge of local, state, national and federal regulations that govern the described service areas.
• Ability to speak a language our clients speak is preferred ( Nepali, Hindi, Rohingya, Swahili, Kinyarwanda ).

Responsibilities

• Maintains relationships with current employers through frequent communication and coordination.
• Researches employment opportunities and trends; networks to educate employers about the benefits of hiring refugees.
• Provides pre-employment orientation and budgeting sessions for newly arrived clients.
• Assists clients in developing an employment plan and job-search skills.
• Provides placement and post-placement services including onboarding and follow-up activities.
