Job summary

Schwan’s Company in Deer Park, TX is hiring a Refrigeration Supervisor. You will oversee maintenance and preventive maintenance of production machinery and building systems, including ammonia refrigeration equipment. The role requires managing safety, compliance with PSM/OSHA regulations, and coordinating external service providers.

The position offers a base salary range of $68,000–$113,000 with a 10% incentive bonus and a Total Rewards package including health benefits, retirement, and PTO.

Qualifications

• Ammonia refrigeration experience required and 3+ years related experience.
• Knowledge of general construction, electrical, electronic, microprocessor, mechanical systems and CMMS.
• Safety regulations: PSM, OSHA, EPA; USDA sanitation standards preferred.
• Must have previous supervisor experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic math and problem-solving to generate departmental reports.
• May require clean-shaven for respirator use.
• Willing to work any shift and be on 24-hour on-call.

Responsibilities

• Direct maintenance and preventive maintenance of production machinery and building needs.
• Supervise maintenance activities, troubleshoot ammonia refrigeration equipment.
• Manage food safety, sanitation, quality, and security of products.
• Comply with EPA PSM regulations and risk management.
• Coordinate external service agencies for refrigeration repairs.
• Perform inspections and preventive maintenance per PSM schedules.
• Maintain and inspect ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems.
• Conduct daily chemical testing and log results, adjust as needed.
• Interface with state and federal agencies as required.
• Diagnose malfunctions by observing operation of machinery and equipment.
• Disassemble machinery to repair and replace parts; ensure PPE is up to date.
